My daughter Renee Nicole Delisle was born on June 24 1997 with a cleft lip and cleft palate. On August 27, Renee had an emergency tracheostomy due to a subglottic stenosis. She spent 13 days at Children's Medical Center in Hartford ,CT. Renee is our only child so we didn't have anything to go on concerning childcare much less those with special needs. Our families were very supportive and frankly, my faith has gotten me thru some tough times. Renee has had her lip and palate repaired by a wonderful plastic surgeon. We have gone through 4 bronchoscopies with some progress. I should also mention that for nearly nine months , Renee had a G-tube. Tonite as I write this, almost 2 yrs. later, we might be nearing the end of this trach ordeal. August 18, 1999, Renee has yet another bronchoscopy. We are confident but a guarded against another disappointment.
