Courtney Faith Horne

My child Courtney Faith Horne was born at 36 weeks on April 23 2002, she weighed 9lbs 4oz was born with hydrocephalus, had a VP shunt placed at 3 days old, open heart surgery at 1 1/2 wks for an ASD/VSD repair and kidney surgery at 2 1/2 wks she was born with right kidney only. She had nissen and g-tube placed in July 2002. Because of all the surgeries her trachea was weakened and she ended up having severe tracheamalacia which is how she got her trach placed in September 2002, she had a cleft palate repaired in June 2004. She spent 5 1/2 months in NICU at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.

She has an older sister Hayley and her parents are Sandra & Derek Horne. She has had multiple surgeries and we are hopefully going to get to start plugging her trach at the end of March and try to get it to come out her last bronchoscopy she had done showed the airway has healed and the tracheamalacia is gone. She has all three therapys and she does real well talking past the trach and wearing her passy-muir valve. Courtney is such an inspiration and very special to us.
