Chrisinti Jaheid Rainville-Sampson

Chrisinti was born at Montreal Children's Hospital, Montreal Canada. He was born on September 7, 2003 at 24 weeks gestation and developed a strider later on from being intubated for a long period of time. Then in November 2003 he was diagnosed with vocal cord paralysis, because he pulled on the ETT tube one too many times, that is what caused the paralysis. Chrisinti was diagnosed with vocal cord paralysis, and a tracheotomy was scheduled right away. He continued to developed just fine.

In November 2004, his ENT noticed that one vocal cord was moving, but he had formed subglottic stenosis stage IV, which was pretty serious making it impossible for him too breathe with a Passi-Muir valve. But his right vocal cord was working strongly and some twitching on the left side, which was being held down by the stonosis. So, the ENT and I strongly agreed that a laryno-tracheo-plasty would be preformed on the 7th of December.

Surgery was a great success, and he is home now he has been home since January 15, 2005. He was 1 pound 14 ounces at birth and today he is a healthy 27 pounds! If you were too see this child today you would of never know that anything had ever happened too him, but he has been through more in 1 year then I have in my entire 33 years of life.
