Zachery Wayne Guinn
Zackery was born at 10:00pm on 4/4/02 and was 7 pounds, 4 ounces & 21 inches long. (39 weeks-Full Term) Also, there were no complications during pregnancy. Zackery's apgar score was 0,0,3.
The pediatrician (who was not in the room when the baby was born) came in and told us that our baby was going to be transported and if we wanted to see him before he left to go. We said yes! It was about 12:00am and the transport team wheeled him in the room. It was the first time that anyone saw him. His lip was quivering because of seizures and he had wires and tubes running everywhere.
From that night on, it has been a roller coaster ride and a bad dream. He is 2 1/2 years old and he can't hold his head up, doesn't sit up, doesn't roll over, g-tube fed only, breathing treatments, smile sporadically, chronic aspiration, 3 cases of
pneumonia the winter of 2003, 2nd set of ear tubes, hates the car seat and Kid Kart, loves the outdoors,
etc.
His diagnosis so far is Severe Hypoxic Ishemic Encepholophy, Larygomalasia, trach, g-tube & nissen fundo. He is severely developmentally delayed & is in First Steps program through the state of Kentucky until he is 3 years old.
