Fernanda Miranda
Fernada is 18 months old. We live in El Paso, TX She got the trach 8 months ago, we are used to it very good now, she is growing and developing as well as other kids, she is our only child, so she gets all the
attention. I tell everyone her story because she is my miracle, she is the best thing it could ever happened to
me. I think she came the right time and had this
opportunity of life for a very good reason and mission.
Fernanda had a reconstructive surgery last July, she used a stent for 4 weeks and she had to use a NG tube to be fed, After a few weeks they took the stent out, the scoop showed that she had scared again.
She loves playing and being around friends, Here she is as a beautiful Angel
No matter how much longer she is having the trach, we hope is this year 2005. But nothing stops her for being happy and smiley all the time, and now, sharing her experience to little and very brave people like her. Update, May 2005: Fernanda is 22 months old now, she's has been growing really fast and learning new stuffs. After several tries for her stenosis, We wanted another opinion so we went to Cincinnati and Dr. Cotton saw her, She is having a reconstructive surgery in June 6th and be decannulated at same time, Hoping this time works.
Update, June 9, 2005: Fernanda is now 22 months old,
she has been very healthy the last months. She has grown very fast and
has learned a lot of things like she was in a hurry!!!! It´s been a
year since she was trached, she had a reconstructive surgery this past June
6, we are in the hospital right now, it is going to be a long recovery, but
everything is going well so far. She was decannulated after the surgery, so
when she came out I saw her for the first time without her trach. I
felt something was missing!! Now she is breathing on her own, (with a
little help of the O2, because of sedation). It is so wonderful watching
her. |
