Dustin James Horen
This is Dustin James, he was born July 22, 2002. He was a planned C section at 39 weeks. I had a normal pregnancy and nothing was wrong till he was born. When he was born he was blue and they resituated him and then took him to NICU where he was put into an O2 tent. He didn't need much and I thought that he was going home with me. I left the hospital on July 26th 2002 and I had to leave my angel behind, for he was not doing any better. On August, 12th he crashed and was intibated and put on a vent. He stayed on that for about a month. He had many attempts to get him weaned, but he failed them all. After all that, they decided to do a trach. I wasn't sure that is what I wanted when it was time to go to surgery, but little did I know that was not the end of it. Three days after his trach surgery he had a GT- Nissen done. He is now recovering very well. He is on full feeds no IVs and 2 meds. He is a thriving little boy. I will try and keep You updated as much as I can. Feel free to email me, everyone needs the support. I know I do! Thanks for your time. Update, October 2002 - Dustin is now home, he came home on Oct. 7th. He is only on oxygen at night with a mist collar. He is also at full feeds thru his G-tube. He is a lot of work, but I love having him at home. Update, January 2003 - Since he came home on Oct. 7 2002, he has been back in and out of the hospital. He went back in Nov, 24 2002 and he finally came home again on Dec. 26 2002. He is now on a vent only at night for the CPAP. He is almost 15 pounds. He is smiling laughing and doing good he has therapy that comes to the house to work with him once a week. He is doing great.
A few days old
December 2002 Update June 2004: Dustin has been in and out of the hospital a few times, but this present day he is a happy growing thriving almost 2 year-old little boy with lots of energy. The docs never thought he would make it this far. I am grateful for everyday God lets him be here with me.
December 2003 Update, August 2004: Dustin is now a 2 year old little boy! He is now walking and they are going to try to wean him off the vent, thank God. I have waited so long for him to walk and he is now and he is very, very happy. I am thankful for everyday that he is with us.
Thanks for your page. It has helped me so much.
