Florencia Torres

I am Florencia Torres, a 26 week preemie. When I was born, I weighed 760 grams and I spent four months on a ventilator, then they did a tracheostomy.

Now, I am 2 years old, the doctors tried to decannulate me in November of 2001, but I wasn't ready.

Mom and Dad's names are Graciela and Ezequiel and I have two brothers, Santiago, 6 years old, and Agutin, born on December 27th, 2001 and I really love them.

Update December 2002:  After the last endoscopy, on October 2002, the doctor told us that she had a chondritis and he was going to make and endoscopyc surgery and then put in stent for three months.

When we went to change the cannula, he told us that he would like to make a test in order to check if Florencia would be able to breath on her own.

Three days later, we went to the clinic, and without any surgery procedure, he cut the ribbon and mom took out her tracheotomy. It was a miracle of God. He heard all our request and prayers.

Since then, we are living our new lives, without the suction machine. It is a gift of God.
